Busy, busy, busy!

This week has been pretty crazy. I'm not sure if I've mentioned on this blog before but I make cakes/cupcakes on the side. All week I've been knee deep in sugary confections! I made cupcakes for the season premiere of Dexter and now I'm in the midst of making a bunch of cupcakes for a Rubber Ducky themed baby shower for the weekend.

Flowers, For Me??

This weekend I hit up a wholesale florist with my friend. Originally, my heart was set on having anemones for the entire wedding party. They are classic, sophisticated and timeless. I've wanted that type of flower for as long as I can remember! That dream was destroyed after I discovered September is not the month for them. Thus, costing a whole heck of a lot more! I dried  my eyes and kept it moving. It's too early for bridezilla, right?

So, I really didn't have any backups to the anemones. I went into the florist with an open mind and saw a few things that got my attention. But then I saw them! Dahlias!!! Perfect! They are colorful, fun, unusual---they fit our event splendidly!

Here is a photo my friend snapped at the florist. Aren't they gorgeous :) We also found some cool boutonnieres for the guys called billy balls.

Won't they look just dapper next to a gray tux?

Adorable.

I saw this video featured today on Style Me Pretty and I couldn't resist re-posting it.

For some reason when the bride drops the ring in the middle of the ceremony, I envisioned something similar happening to me!

Any plans this weekend? I'll be going flower shopping with my beer buddy, then anxiously awaiting the return of Dexter Sunday night!

Il Vestito

With less than a year away, I still don't have a wedding dress. I have not even looked for one. Some girls I tell this to completely lose their marbles. "Oh my God! That is the first thing you do!!" Maybe I am dragging my feet a bit on this but I'm not too worried...yet.

We tend to be breaking tradition with most of the wedding plans so I have contemplated taking the dress to the next level as well. Isn't this short Erdem dress the tops? I am pretty sure my mother would have a conniption if I walked down the aisle in this but it's still stunning.

So what is the consensus? Should I stick with time honored tradition for the dress or completely trick it out?

I'm Back!

Sorry for the delay! We are back from Colorado with a few less years on our livers but refreshed nonetheless. The Great American Beer Festival was amazing. There were over 2,000 beers to sample. Unfortunately, we did not come even close to touching that number--thank God! It was good times with good friends.

Me and my boo even had matching "Hop Head" shirts. Until next year GABF...

We leave for Denver tomorrow for the Great American Beer Festival but I wanted to give a little preview of our engagements pictures before we took flight!

Still Saving the Date

This week I've been researching designs for our Save the Date's. There are some super creative folks out there. The ideas are endless! Here's an example I stumbled upon over at Green Wedding Shoes.

And who can resist the thought of including your furry friend into the fun? I know Mr. Oliver would look quite dapper.

Short Week

Over the weekend we had our engagement shoot. Oh. My. God. Our friend that took the pictures absolutely blew my mind. We cannot thank her enough! She did such an incredible job. Pictures coming soon!

In the meantime, watch this short video and tell me it doesn't bring you to tears. I sobbed like a 3 year old who was just denied a lollipop.

I watched this and was reminded to not get so wrapped up in planning the wedding...you have to plan for the marriage too. Life will definitely throw us some stuff in our marriage but I can only hope we handle it like this couple.

-1 Anniversary

One year from today, I will become Mrs. Lindsay McKay...hey, that rhymes! We are celebrating by having a fancy dinner at the revolving restaurant in the city. The view should be wonderful on this overcast, craptastic day!

Let's hope this stuff clears out for tomorrow's photo shoot. (This is me crossing my fingers xxxxxxxxx)

Setting the Stage...

These carnival engagement shoots are absolutely adorable...I can't wait til we do ours this weekend! Hopefully the weather cooperates. St. Louis is about to get pummeled with storms today thru tomorrow...It may get swampy for the fair. Thank God we aren't having an outdoor wedding, I'm pretty sure I'd have an anxiety attack.

I love that dress she is wearing...fun, comfortable and still cute!

It was hard to come back to work this morning after my extended Labor Day Weekend...but I'm here. We have a super busy week including taking our engagement pictures! We'll be headed to a local fair with a friend who will document the day for us...she is super talented. Check her out here.

Now let's get in the mood with a fun carnival shoot!

Extended Weekend...

What are your plans for this long weekend? I decided to take the day off and catch up on some glorious housework...jealous? My sweet fiance comes home tomorrow from a business trip. I don't know if I'd classify it as "business" in that he stayed at the famous Chateau Marmont all week.

I going for a night on the town--not as classy as Beverly Hills but I'll make it work.

More Save the Dates!

I saw this Save the Date video today featured on The Wedding Chicks. These videos must be all the rage. I just wonder how user friendly it would be for an older audience...something to think about.

In the meantime, enjoy!
