This wedding stuff is really coming together. Now that it's getting closer, the need to get things done is kicking in. This weekend we shopped for a tux and landed one at Men's Wearhouse. We decided on gray tuxes for the groomsmen with yellow ties and Andy would wear a black tie. It looked very Brad Pitt--and he especially liked that. I also started working on the centerpieces. This wedding is loads of DIY projects (which I love at the moment and will most likely hate towards the deadline) and the centerpieces were part of that. I found these awesome circus animals at a craft store but hated the color. I wanted to dirty them up a bit so I bought some bronzing antique spray paint and they turned out great.
I did my little project in the basement and didn't hear the end of it as the smell circulated the house. I didn't mind it so much, probably because I was high from the fumes. But I'm happy with the end result. I sent this picture to my mom. I frequently have to remind her that this will be a classy, tasteful event. I don't think she believes me. She'll see though, it's all coming together!!

...and we're back.
Wow, I took quite an extended break from this blog! I can't guarantee that I'll update this as much as I'd like, but let's just see how it goes.
What is new, you ask? Oh, we are just creeping in on that 6 MONTH MARK!!! Holy cannoli, this blows my mind! We have all been working so hard to get everything prepared. I have to give a very special thanks to our dear friend Krissy at Paper Schmaper. She is like my little wedding fairy. We completed the Save the Dates and got those mailed out. We are over the moon excited about how they turned out.
Didn't she trick them out?! She is amazingly talented and we are both soooooo lucky to have her :)
I've also had mucho contact with our coordinator at our reception this week and let me just say...SYNERGY. I've always wanted to use that word in a sentence and probably won't have the opportunity again so...I thought I had some great ideas---but this lady is VERY good at her job. I really want to share with everyone all the little details we are working on but I shan't. Just know that this is going to some fantastic celebration.
I hope to keep this thing as updated as possible but please understand--I'm planning a wedding! :)

I'm not saying yes...just yet.
One of my favorite shows since being engaged (and maybe before) is Say Yes to the Dress. Oh the drama most brides and their families can create. Since the big day is creeping up, I decided it is probably time to at least time to start looking at dresses...I'm taking my sister and mom along for the journey. I am, however, in no way prepared to purchase a dress. To be honest, I've kinda been fretting all week knowing I'll be putting on bridal gowns this weekend. It's scary stuff! It's one thing to dream about it all of your life, it's another to actually see it on yourself.
Isn't this dream stunning! So architectural. Unfortunately, I don't have the waist for that.
Wish me luck!

Busy, busy, busy!
This week has been pretty crazy. I'm not sure if I've mentioned on this blog before but I make cakes/cupcakes on the side. All week I've been knee deep in sugary confections! I made cupcakes for the season premiere of Dexter and now I'm in the midst of making a bunch of cupcakes for a Rubber Ducky themed baby shower for the weekend.

Flowers, For Me??
This weekend I hit up a wholesale florist with my friend. Originally, my heart was set on having anemones for the entire wedding party. They are classic, sophisticated and timeless. I've wanted that type of flower for as long as I can remember! That dream was destroyed after I discovered September is not the month for them. Thus, costing a whole heck of a lot more! I dried my eyes and kept it moving. It's too early for bridezilla, right?
So, I really didn't have any backups to the anemones. I went into the florist with an open mind and saw a few things that got my attention. But then I saw them! Dahlias!!! Perfect! They are colorful, fun, unusual---they fit our event splendidly!

Here is a photo my friend snapped at the florist. Aren't they gorgeous :) We also found some cool boutonnieres for the guys called billy balls.
Won't they look just dapper next to a gray tux?

Adorable.
I saw this video featured today on Style Me Pretty and I couldn't resist re-posting it.
For some reason when the bride drops the ring in the middle of the ceremony, I envisioned something similar happening to me!
Any plans this weekend? I'll be going flower shopping with my beer buddy, then anxiously awaiting the return of Dexter Sunday night!

Il Vestito
With less than a year away, I still don't have a wedding dress. I have not even looked for one. Some girls I tell this to completely lose their marbles. "Oh my God! That is the first thing you do!!" Maybe I am dragging my feet a bit on this but I'm not too worried...yet.
We tend to be breaking tradition with most of the wedding plans so I have contemplated taking the dress to the next level as well. Isn't this short Erdem dress the tops? I am pretty sure my mother would have a conniption if I walked down the aisle in this but it's still stunning.
So what is the consensus? Should I stick with time honored tradition for the dress or completely trick it out?
